The Big Move

About a month ago we decided that Maddy needed her own room. We have a two bedroom apartment and when Maddy was born, Ash and I were using one of the bedrooms and the other was the office. So we looked around the apartment and decided that the perfect place for Maddy would be a cozy little corner of the dining room. So we set up Maddy's "room. It was nice. All her stuff fit and really, for the first few weeks, Maddy was sleeping in a little bed in our room anyway so it wasn't a problem. As she got bigger though we started to use her crib more and Maddy spent nights in her "room." Not a problem except that Maddy's "room," the living room, and the kitchen are really just one big room. So putting Maddy to sleep meant that Ash and I either had to spend the rest of the night hanging out in our bedroom or watch TV in the living room with all the lights off and the closed captioning on. And so the great Maddy moving began.

First, we had to clean out her old room...

... and displace a lot of stuff.

Maddy was so excited about the move she just didn't know what to do...

...So she decided to sleep. Which was actually the best thing she could to do help...

And now, a month later, Maddy has her own little room.

And that suites her just fine.

And now, for something completely different. So Maddy was laying on her back on the floor today, kicking her feet as she always does, and we decided to try to play with a toy. She really hasn't done the whole rattle thing before this so it took her a while to figure out a) who to move her arms with a definite purpose and then b) how to actually make the toy do something. She finally caught on though...

...sort of. At least she's cute.

Revenge is a dish best served stuffed

Maddy and our stuffed animals have an odd relationship. There are times when they seem to be friends, but then things start to get vicious. Kind of like when cats are "playing."

Pav says, "Hugging my foot. That was biting all the way!"

So this morning, I walked through the living room and apparently Pav had retaliated. Not only that, but he had recruited Stinky for his evil deed.

I think the revenge attempt was unsuccessful though. Maddy seems to be enjoying it a little too much.

Maddy photo dump!

It's time again for a photo dump. There's no rhyme or reason or coherent theme to these
pictures other than they are all filled with the wonderful cuteness that is Maddy. So enjoy!!

Here we see Maddy and grandpa bonding.

Obviously, grandpa is the best think she's ever tasted. Well, maybe not the best thing, but he's making a nice substitute for a bottle in this picture. Poor girl. You'd think we never feed her.

Or let her sleep. Here she is over at grandma and grandpa's house passed out on the floor.

Apparently, dad never gets any sleep either because he is also passed out on the floor with Maddy.

Alright, so I'm totally loving dressing the baby. She's like a doll that cries a lot and smells funny. I was digging through her wardrobe the other day and found a pair of baby blue jeans.

Ok, she is just the cutest freaking thing ever. I love the jeans. LOVE THEM!!!

And last, but not least, Maddy and great-grandma. I love this picture. They both look so happy. Maddy is absolutely the luckiest baby in the world!

Watching TV... you're doing it right!

Maddy has been a little crazy in the evenings these last two nights. She's been taking naps late in the evening, like 5-ish and then she wakes up cranky and is difficult to handle the rest of the evening. Well, today she napped around 3 and I thought, "Wow, this is great, she'll sleep this evening with no problems." So, mom came over about 5 and we took the little baby for a walk. I figured the fresh air would be good for her and the breeze would keep her awake. Well, she stayed awake for 20 min worth of walk and was completely passed out by the time we got home. She woke up 45 min later like the vicious little tiger she is.

Well, it was too early to just put her in her crib and let her cry and she needed a bath anyway, but I wanted to wait till 8:00, so Ash and I turned the lights in the living room down and I held her to calm her down. I had Maddy sitting on my chest and Ash and I were watching Food Network and all of a sudden, I realized Maddy was watching the Spongebob Birthday Cake Challenge on Food Network too. My first reaction was too move her so she couldn't see the TV because you know what they say about TV and babies. Then, I realized that Maddy was sitting on me and I wasn't holding her head. All I was doing was keeping her back propped up and Maddy was holding up her own head and turning it so she could watch TV.

Look at that face. What was I going to do? I was so freaking proud of her for keeping holding her own head up and she was delightfully quiet so I let her watch the whole episode like that. She kept her head up for an hour. I was delighted.

I did balance out all that TV with some Shel Silverstein after her bath though. Reading with her before bed is quickly becoming my favorite past time. She seems to enjoy "Ickle Me, Pickle Me, Tickle Me Too" the best which is good because I love that one and I'm starting to learn it by heart.

Here comes summer

So with summer coming, I've been digging through Maddy's drawers to find the last of her winter outfits because by next winter she'll be too big from them. This one is delightful and gives me flashbacks wearing overalls as a kid. Gotta love corduroy.
